Football fans are known for their devotion but one Leyton Orient supporter loved his team so much that he left them a whopping £150,000 in his wall.
John Burman is a Leyton Orient supporter who loved his team so much he left them £150,000 in his wall. He passed away from cancer in May.
The club chairman Barry Hearn said: “This is a wonderful gesture from John who was by all accounts a remarkable man. The 55-year old supporter was known as ‘Chingford John’ and was following his team around the country, home and away matches, whatever the weather.
“He was a true Orient supporter. The significant money he has left will ensure that his legacy lives on and the club he so passionately supported can continue to grow.” added the club chairman.
John Burman was born in Stoke Newington and was described by friend as a proud Englishman, who worked most of his life as a signal operator on the railways. He had a passion for films and punk rock music along with supporting his boyhood team the Leyton Orient.
His legacy will live on as a member of the Leyton Orient Supporters Club and season tickets holder with his huge donation to the League One club.
